How to organize a wedding during Covid 19 restrictions

Helpful hints on wedding planning during the pandemic

The Canadian provinces are slowly lifting restrictions that we have been living with for the last year and a half. Alberta’s government recently announced the plan for reopening which has really excited all the wedding vendors, including myself. However, we will still have to follow pandemic protocol in order to protect ourselves as well as all the guests that attend events.

Here are some of the guidelines you should keep in mind when planning your wedding.

1/ Self distancing is still in effect.

2/ We must continue to wear masks especially indoors

3/ Hand sanitizers and masks should be available at the entrance of the venue

4/ As of June 1st, events outdoor events can only have 10 people including the vendors that are working the event (marriage officiant, photographer, planner etc)

5/ Chairs should be 6 feet apart

6/ Send out Acknowledgment of risks forms to all the guests and vendors before the event and make sure they are signed and brought to the event or sent to you via email. This is for your protection as well as the venues.

7/ Keep contact information of all guests and vendors in case someone gets sick after the event.

8/ Make yourself a Covid Toolkit (latex gloves, hand sanitizer, masks etc) …for more information, contact [email protected]

9/ At the venue, discuss all Covid protocols with the staff and what yours and their expectations are

10/ Email all vendors working the wedding to let them know what your expectations are as to the Covid protocol

It is also a good idea to make sure you sanitize the microphone after all speeches. You can also get disposable cap covers for the microphone on Amazon; this will save you sanitizing the mic after every speech.

It is always preferable to have any get together outside, providing the weather is good.
