Why hire a wedding planner?
Congratulations on your engagement! Now comes the exciting part of planning your wedding. So, where do you start? Well, first figure out an approximate guest list, so that you know how large a venue you need to rent. Then, you need to hire someone to marry you; a marriage officiant, a friend or a clergyman. And, of course, the photographer; I believe that the photographer is one of the most important vendors you need to hire because after all is said and done, all you have left at the end of your wedding day are your memories and photographs. That is why I always tell my couples to make sure they hire a great photographer; sacrifice other things in your budget, never the photographer. Interestingly enough, I was telling one of my potential couples this, and the groom said: “Don’t sell yourself short! “Wedding planner” should be at the top of that list”. Well, he has a very valid point but it does depend on what kind of services you are hiring the wedding planner for. If it is for Full Planning, then yes, hire the planner first; however, if you are just needing coordination, then you can wait until you have taken care of the first three important items.
These days with Covid in the air, it is especially important to hire a professional to help plan and/or coordinate your wedding. A good planner will be aware of all the restrictions and guidelines so that you, your families and guests are all kept safe.
In the photo of the wedding above (which took place in the fall of 2020), all the guests had to fill out a form answering all the “Covid questions”, everyone wore masks and there was hand sanitizer on the seats. There were 50 guests at the wedding, everyone had a great time and no Covid cases were reported afterwards. It is so important to keep your guests safe so that they can help you celebrate your union. Covid may be here but LOVE is not dead!!!!
So, for your own peace of mind, it is a good idea to have a planner running your wedding day so that you and your guests are well taken care of. There are many planners out there; some of them less expensive than others. I highly recommend that you hire someone who is experienced; you may pay a little more but you will have peace of mind that everything will run smoothly and on time…you get what you pay for.
