So, what do you do now?
Congratulations on your engagement and all the best on this wonderful new journey you have begun. Now what? Does it all seem very overwhelming? Well, if you have never organized a large event before, it can be. So, here are a few ideas on where to get started. Date The first thing you need to do is set a date. Some couples have special dates that they want to get married on and always remember on their anniversary. Or, some don’t care and they choose a date according to the availability of some of their nearest and dearest or the availability of a venue.
Guest list Next you need to figure out how many guests you will be inviting. I always tell my couples to do a rough list so that you have some ideas of the numbers; this will help in choosing the size of the venue.
Venue Start hunting early for your venue because some book up a year to eighteen months in advance. Choose a venue that will not only accommodate all your guest but also feels good to you. Once you have chosen the venue, make sure you read the contract very carefully and question anything you don’t understand. Also, it never hurts to try to negotiate a discount of some sort; when I attend these meetings with my couples I always ask for a discount or a perk.

Who you choose depends on whether you want to have a religious ceremony or a non-denominational ceremony. There are many sites on the internet where you can find an officiant that will meet your needs. Photographer I tell my couples that one of the most important vendors that you should have for your wedding is a good photographer because he/she will capture the memories; after all is said and done, that is all you have left of your wonderful day. The Calgary wedding market is over saturated with photographers so you should have no problem finding someone who fits your style, your personality and your vision. I have a few recommendations on my website. http://boutiqweddings.com/preferred-vendors/ Find all too overwhelming? Yes, it can be. However, hiring a wedding planner to help you with your planning will lower your stress level and make your planning a lot easier.
