How to decorate your Christmas table
With Christmas fast approaching many minds are thinking about how to make their Christmas table different from last year’s. We usually have a big traditional Polish Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and I always want to make each year’s table different from the previous year. Every years I change the colors of the Christmas decor; sometimes it is silver and red, or gold and red, or silver and blue. Many years ago I started a tradition of giving each of my children a Christmas ornament so that they would be able to start their own collection. I continued the tradition as our family grew. So, I always add their ornament to the table decor.
So what do I do to decorate the table? I always lay a white table cloth on the table; then in the center of the table I place bows of different pine trees. Then depending on the colors of the year, I place different types of ornaments, dried berries, different shaped and colored candles and colored balls to match the decor. I also add name cards at each place setting because each family member gets an ornament specifically chosen for them. Charger plates are placed on the table because we have borscht soup as our appetizer and I don’t want any to spill on the white tablecloth. There are always 2 types of glasses on the table, one for wine and one for water. Here are some samples of table settings I have created.
Merry Christmas to everyone and happy table decorating!
