How to choose your wedding dress

How wonderful, you are engaged! Now the search for the perfect wedding dress begins. Just a little background information on the history of the wedding dress. It has been around for ages in North America and Europe and before the 1840s the dress was blue symbolizing purity and innocence. Then, Queen Victoria started the tradition of wearing white and it has since become the standard color. However, these days wedding dresses come in different colors such as, cream, off white champagne, light blue, shades of pink and often the dress may be white but with a colored accent.

When choosing a dress, you should know that there are 4 basic styles that you choose from depending on your body type:

Classic “A” line: This style has a fitted bust line with panels of the gown extending in an “A” formation to a hem flowing away from the body.

Ball Gown: The ball gown is a dress that you would wear to a more formal wedding. It has a fitted bodice with a dramatic full skirt. This type of gown looks great on all brides including full figured and hour glass shaped women.

Sheath: This dress creates a slim and sexy silhouette of the body. Petite and well proportioned women fit this style of dress.

David’s Bridal

Mermaid: The mermaid style has a tight bodice and then continues to be fitted down the core of the body as well as the hips and then lets out below the thighs or the knees. This dress suits very slim and tall women.
