Acreage Wedding

Janelle and Scott

I met Janelle and Scott at Janelle’s parents acreage in Bearspaw; a lovely community on the outskirts of Calgary. The acreage is absolutely stunning with a pond and exquisite landscaping. I was so looking forward to planning a wedding in this beautiful setting. The wedding day ended up being a series of very unique events that made the experience a very special one.

Janelle chose wear her great aunt’s silk wedding dress from the 1940s. It was a little old fashion and a little to big on her, so she had the dress altered by Laura George who did an amazing job.

The wedding took place on July 8th. The ceremony was officiated by Susan Haylund and one of the couple’s friends played the guitar and sang. Janelle and Scott chose a unique bridal party; Muncho, their beautiful dog walked down the aisle with one of the groomsmen and then all 4 grandmas who were “Flower Grandmas”, instead of flower girls, walked in with 4 little ring bearers. It was so cute!

After the ceremony, Scott and Janelle climbed into a horse drawn carriage with all the little ring bearers and had a ride around the property while the guests enjoyed cocktails and  hors d’oeuvres.

While Janelle, Scott and the wedding party were having their photos taken, the guests enjoyed the grounds as well as pony rides for the children and a visit with the horses. Every one just loved the whole experience.

The tent, the tables and chairs and all the linens were from Special Events Rentals and the beautiful flowers were designed and created by DeeVine Petals.

At 6pm, the guest were invited to take their seats and then the fathers of the bride and groom opened two bottles of champagne with a saber. Pretty cool idea!

Then after a few more introduction, the guest were were invited to serve themselves to a delicious buffet prepared by Myles and his crew from  Red Seal Dining .

After speeches and the shoe game, the bride and groom had their first dance and partied into the night.

And they took a little time for some romance before the sun set.

I really enjoyed working with this unique wedding and getting to know this lovely couple and their whole family. I hope I have many more like this.
